Imposing castle of the XIII century with 5 semicircular towers, of which the room of the lordly family is unmissable.
This imposing castle, which can be seen from afar, was built in the 13th century at an altitude of 388 meters. It features 5 semi-circular towers. The walls are between 2 m and 2.80 m thick! During the French conquest of 1674, a dismantling order led to the demolition of part of the curtain wall. It is possible that the intervention of Jean de Watteville, Abbot of Baume-les-Messieurs, prevented its complete destruction. Between 1923 and 1933, the château underwent major renovation work. Not to be missed: the room once reserved for the lordly family. Located on the second floor, it features an enormous fireplace and a chapel. You're free to wander around the courtyard, the ramparts and the keep. Guided tours tell you a lot about the history of this majestic edifice, a veritable "watchtower" on the salt routes, the region's white gold at the time. Important: guided tours are conducted by the owners.
