THE HOUSE OF THE METER
The chaumerand industrial heritage association revives the making of mothers in Longchaumois.
Here's another little-known skill from the Haut Jura! In the 19th century, the metric system became the norm. In 1888, nine workshops in Longchaumois were producing folding metal meters. The Prost-Rosset family's workshop has been reconstructed here. Although the manufacture of meters ceased in the 1960s, the Association du Patrimoine Industriel Chaumerand (APIC) is bringing its history back to life: machines, tools and meters of various models are on display, along with various pieces of local industrial heritage. Free guided tours are available by appointment.
