The Banque Alimentaire de Bordeaux et de la Gironde celebrated its 30th anniversary in July 2016. Its objective: to help people to eat, by fighting against waste, malnutrition and undernutrition. To this end, the B.A.B.G. collects, manages, shares and redistributes food on a daily basis to its member associations. Its action is based on gratuity, donation, sharing, volunteering and patronage. B.A.B.G. collects more than 4,829 tons of products annually, mainly from supermarkets and hypermarkets in Bordeaux Metropole. These foodstuffs are distributed daily to 135 Associations or Community Social Action Centres (C.C.A.S.) to help 18,000 people in precarious situations; the equivalent of 12 million meals. Upon registration, it is also possible to come and discover the B.A.B.G. website, its functioning and activities, on Wednesday morning at 10am.
