Marian worship continues at Notre-Dame de Mièges, where a pilgrimage takes place every year at Pentecost.
Pilgrimages already existed here in the 11th century. Legend has it that in the 15th century, a silver statue of the Virgin Mary was stolen from the church at Mièges and found its way to this spot, known as La Corvée. An oratory was built here, then - in the early 17th century - the present chapel, which was converted in the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1613, the hermit François Carlier brought here a Virgin carved from a miraculous oak from Montaigu-en-Brabant. Since then, an annual pilgrimage has taken place.
