LES LAMPES GAUDARD
The kerosene lamps of the Gaudard house stand the test of time. They owe their letters of nobility to the Jura know-how. All over the world, they illuminate rooms, offices and living rooms. Gaudard A&P was awarded the Entreprise du patrimoine vivant label in 2010, and obtained recognition from the Institut national des métiers d'art in 2011.
History. It is now 140 years since a modest commune in the Jura region saw the birth of the Gaudard oil lamps. Five generations have followed one another in the workshops located in Morbier, starting with Auguste Gaudard, who created his first stamping workshop in 1869. The craftsman then became an industrialist in 1902, and inaugurated the current factory. To do this, it imported thirty stamping presses from Brooklyn (United States) and started manufacturing oil nozzles. The company has since combined industrial construction and artisanal finishing using materials of choice: brass, earthenware, glass, porcelain and stoneware.
The products. Gaudard A&P manufactures spouts and burners with or without a base, Olympus petrol lamps, kerosene lamps (in brass and copper or wooden, glass, earthenware, porcelain or stoneware base), as well as LED lamps. Their autonomy varies from 7 to 27 hours for a brightness of 5 to 20 watts. In addition, the catalogue includes clock caps, electrical assemblies, globe holders, bases..
Employment. All production is located in the Morbier workshops, over an area of 2,000 m².
