ENAMEL HOUSE
One of only three places in Europe where enamellers can rent workshops and use a large furnace at Hauts de Bienne.
It's almost unique in Europe. Here, as at two other sites, enamellers (professional and amateur) can rent workshops and use the large kiln. The enamel house was redesigned in 2012. Between the 17th and 19th centuries, as Morez asserted its industrial vocation, a new specialty developed: enamel on metal. Initially intended for clock dials, enamellers broadened their field of activity to include street and funeral plaques. After 1918, they produced road signs.
