L'ATELIER DU SABOTIER
It is the last of Franche-Comté in professional activity and it is in the Jura, 2 km from Champagnole! The machines and tools used by the hobbyist Michel Simonet are from the time of his great-grandfather, who was a hobbyist in the 1920s. He is the fourth generation to perpetuate this endangered craft. However, the hooves still exist, of lime and birch. They have also become small decorative gifts. Moreover, the artistic fibre of the Jura man is fully expressed with sculptures of owls, mushrooms, various utensils: piggy banks, bottle holders, chests, bowls, bowls... They are sometimes born from red hornbeam, sometimes from ash. This passionate person makes it a point of honour to make the public discover his creative gestures. You will also be amazed by the treasures of his imagination displayed behind his workshop.
