RUSSET STELE
At the boundary between Grand-Rue and rue de la République, at the junction of the rue de la Tisserie, is a stele representing Cadet Rousselle. A work by R. Elias, built in 2003, pays homage (late) to this fantasy character. Guillaume Rousselle was the youngest of his family where his nickname. He is represented with three épis of barley, symbol of the city of Orgelet. They do not mean that the land of Orgelet was suitable for this culture but were chosen as emblem because the name of barley evokes that of the city. The name of Orgelet comes from Mount Orgier at the foot of which the city is built.
