MEANDRE DU MERATON
This network of dead arms draws the old meanders of the Doubs fed in period of flood
This network of oxbows traces the ancient meanders of the Doubs, which are fed during flood periods. It is home to bitterns, purple herons, marsh harriers, blue throats, water rails, red-backed and turd foxes and kingfishers. Last breeding site of the Least Bittern in the area. Amphibians such as the alpine newt and the natterjack toad live there. The Pâtis de Petit-Noir and Sauçois area, around the active course of the Doubs, is home to grey, night heron, purple heron, little egret and small gravelot. Future Sensitive Natural Area.
