VANNERIE LACROIX
For more than 30 years, Gilles Lacroix, a former student of the National School of Basketry, has been welcoming visitors to his workshop. He transforms French wicker according to different techniques: full, up to date, ribbed, hooped, spiral, canvas. He also mixes materials by combining for example earth or wood. He makes baskets, baskets and other traditional basketry objects, but also utensils for a professional market, such as destemmers used by winemakers, baskets for bakers. Everyone, including private individuals, can ask for custom-made items. Her artistic side leads her to monumental works such as this "statue" of Saint Saturnine (a virgin martyr of Germany sacrificed in the 8th century). And he does not hesitate to demonstrate his know-how by gesture. In an exhibition room adjoining the workshop, his baskets of all shapes and uses are displayed alongside other objects of Jura craftsmanship. Finally, it offers introductory courses to the greatest number of people.
