HOLY CLARE MONASTERY
A monastery founded in 1415 at the request of Margaret of Bavaria, today home to some 20 Poor Clare sisters.
The Sainte-Claire monastery was founded in 1415, at the height of the Burgundian Golden Age, by Saint Colette de Corbie, who received the building from Duke Jean sans Peur himself. The original chapel, demolished during the French Revolution and rebuilt in the 1930s, has been renovated. It features a beautiful 18th-century marble piéta and the superb shrine of Saint Colette, donated by an aunt of Louis XV. The monastery is still home to some twenty Poor Clare sisters.
