SMOBY MAGASIN D'USINE
Smoby is the specialist in children's toys. Tricycles, magnetic screens, hair dolls are part of the "Je joue français" movement.
History. Founded in 1924 in Lavans-lès-Saint-Claude under the name Moquin-Breuil, the company originally specialized in the production of wooden pipes. After the Second World War, the family SME converted to the design of plastic objects, household items and toys in 1970, when the company changed its name to Smoby. Jean-Christophe Breuil, grandson of the founder, became CEO of Smoby in 1993. In 2003, the company bought Majorette Solido, then Berchet in 2005, becoming the number one French and number two in Europe for toys. After some difficulties, Smoby-Marjorette was taken over by the German toy leader, Simba-Dickie, who relocated part of the production to the Jura. In April 2008, Mr Thomas Le Paul, former head of Simba's Italian subsidiary, took over the management of the group now called "Smoby Toys SAS".
The products. Smoby has developed a range of toys for children and toddlers, indoor and outdoor: slide, miniature kitchen, two-storey house...
Employment. More than 400 employees spread over three sites in the Jura: the production site in Arinthod, the assembly and assembly plant in Moirans-en-Montagne as well as the logistics platform, and the head office at the historic Lavans-lès-Saint-Claude site. In 2016, Smoby Toys generated a turnover of 130 million euros, 45 million of which was generated internationally.
