SAINT-ANNE'S CAVE AND HERMITAGE BELVEDERE
In downtown Saint-Claude, take the rue du Collège, the stairs on the left and the chemin de la Rochette. Here you will find a very well signposted mountain hiking course. 1 h 30 to reach the belvédère of the hermitage (at an altitude of 600 m), offering a magnificent view of the city. To continue to the Sainte-Anne cave, follow the direction of Chaumont. The trail passes in front of the cave. Know that Louis XI précéda you: The monarch, also of passage to Saint-Claude, went there and abreuva there. Legend tells us that the water of the cave solves eye disease.
At this stage you can go back to the other side or continue to Mount Bayard, which also offers a beautiful panorama. The course, much more sporty, rises on the cliff and then allows a return to Saint-Claude by another route (count 2 hours a day in total).
