Built in 1774 on the site of a Minimes convent built in 1650, the dilapidated château was purchased by the Countess de Lauraguais, Princess d'Isenghien, heiress to the Chalon-Arlay fortress. The Comtois architect Rémy Léger used the U-shaped base to build a vast, neoclassical château inspired by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, architect of the Royal Saltworks at Arc-et-Senans.
