THE WHEEL OF LIZON

The Duchemin are fond of the local craft history and the heritage that goes with it. A devouring and contaminating passion because since 2006 they have mobilized dozens of friends to rescue this wheel. A hydraulic bucket wheel (small troughs) installed in an ancient factory on the banks of the Lizon River. At a standstill since 1905, it was moving 18 lathes to make pipes. After years of restoration, the old lady has regained its lustre and drive in a site that could not be more privileged. The Haut-Jura on the one hand and its singing water, the proximity of the "savoir-faire" trail, the creation of a shop (slide show, books, postcards, posters) whose star is this "mini Lizon wheel" made by the craftsman "Fandarix". This wheel is moreover integrated into the walls of what has become "L'Auberge du Vieux Moulin". The visits (free) are therefore made according to the activity of the latter. All year round there are activities on the site, particularly on the "Journées du patrimoine de pays et des moulins" (local heritage and mills days). The 27th and 28th of June in 2020.
