THE TOUR OF THE BASTIDE'S RAMPARTS
Go there and contact
Take a tour of the bastide ramparts, and admire the Porte de la Mer with its high square tower.
Founded in 1280 for the King of England, the Bastide town of Cadillac-sur-Garonne is well worth a visit. Start at the arcaded central square, with its market hall and old houses, then visit the Tour de l'Oeuille before taking the Ruet, an unusual passageway built between the houses and the ramparts that once circled the town. Further on, you can admire the Porte de la Mer with its high square tower and flood ladder, and the 14th-century Porte de l'Horloge, converted in the 18th century.
