ACEY ABBEY, OUR LADY OF ACEY ABBEY
Abbey founded in the 12th century with a gothic style church and monastic buildings classified as historical monuments.
The Cistercian Abbey of Acey was founded in the 12th century and follows the strict rule of St. Benedict: a monastic life of poverty and seclusion. Like many other religious buildings, it was damaged or destroyed several times over the centuries. In the 19th century, the communities of Solesme, Notre-Dame des Neiges and Notre-Dame des Dombes temporarily settled here. The monastic buildings date back to the 18th century, and some of their facades are listed. The church dates back to the founding of the abbey.
