PUITS HENRI IV
A well associated with the memory of the 1587 battle of Coutras, the only vestige of the castle destroyed in 1731, the town's emblem.
Emblematic of the town, the Henri IV well is closely linked to the memory of the Battle of Coutras in 1587. Today, it is the last vestige of the château destroyed in 1731. Freely inspired by ancient architecture, this Renaissance edifice is one of the park ornaments created for the Maréchal de Saint-André to embellish the château. Resembling a small temple, the well is decorated with Doric columns supporting an entablature adorned with a frieze of roses and a sharp sword. A dome with stone scales crowns the whole.
