Our farm has been family owned since 1854.
Patrick CARTEYRON, oenologist, representing the fifth generation, took over in 1982 with a resolutely qualitative objective.
Perfectly equipped cellars for vinification, wine maturing and storage were built in parallel with the progressive development of the vineyard.
Today we have 40 hectares of vines, with an annual production of 270,000 bottles.
The full-bodied, round and elegant red wines represent the main production.
Chateau Penin is also very well known for its White wine, Rosé and Clairet, which are products of Patrick's passion and not by-products of red wine vinification.
Our concern is to work in accordance with the truths of our land, ensuring the protection and respect of our natural environment.
We simply want to express the authentic qualities and pleasures brought by a healthy and ripe grape, transformed into wine
Wine tasting 2021:
- White 2019: Pale yellow, green reflections of white lime leaves, lemon zest and hints of anise. Good volume in the mouth, well balanced, refreshing.
- Rosé Nature: Raspberry colour with salmon hue. Discreet buds, fat and fruity in the mouth. Ideal for grilled meats.
- Rosé 2020 : Pale salmon colour, delicate and floral. Fresh and fruity, slightly acidic. A harmonious whole.
- Bordeaux Clairet 2020: Brilliant red colour with a hint of English candy. Fruity in the mouth.
- Bordeaux 2016: Ruby colour with vermilion hues. A discreet nose with notes of spices. Supple and round in the mouth, with nicely coated tannins. The finish is liquorice.
- "Les Cailloux", Bordeaux 2012: Rimey ruby colour with tile highlights. Nose of dried herbs, cooked fruit, hint of mint. Fine and easy on the palate, with aromas of cooked fruits.
- "Les Cailloux", Bordeaux 2017: Dark ruby colour. Nose dominated by jammy fruit, wild strawberry, fig and menthol. Balanced on the palate, with a frank attack and slightly biting tannins. A hint of greenness and vegetal flavours.
- "Les Cailloux", Bordeaux 2018: Beautiful garnet ruby colour. Beautiful maturity on the nose, with notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, candied cherry. Slightly fruity on the palate, very aromatic with a hint of liquorice. Volume and length; a concert of red fruits... We love it!
- Bordeaux 2015: Light ruby colour with tile-like hues. Evolved nose of cooked fruits and dried herbs. The palate remains dignified, straightforward, still with volume. Drink now.
- Merlot, Grande Sélection Bordeaux 2012: Tiled colour with brick-like hues. Notes of cooked fruit. Fluid in the mouth, the tannins hang on the finish.
