OLD TOWN HALL
Old City Hall with a flamboyant balcony on the first floor, housing a room that can host exhibitions
It's the oldest town hall in France, and therefore one of the oldest civil buildings. Also known as the Vieille halle aux grains, it is thought to have been built at the request of Richard Cœur-de-Lion, Duke of Aquitaine before becoming King of England, between the 12th and 13th centuries. Over the centuries, the building has undergone numerous alterations, including the addition of Renaissance-style openings and a flamboyant balcony on the upper floor, where Jurade meetings were held until the French Revolution. Today, the hall is used for exhibitions.
