Visit of an abbey, founded in the 12th century by Nicolas d’Estouteville, with a Renaissance-style church in Valmont.

Founded in the 12th century by Nicolas d’Estouteville, Lord of Valmont, the Romanesque church was destroyed by fire in the 15th century. A Gothic church replaced it. After 1515, new buildings were constructed, as well as a sacristy, and the church was restored in the Renaissance style. Then the abbey was sold to the Delacroix family. The painter, conquered by these romantic ruins, was happy to immortalise it. In 1994, the Benedictine nuns of Lisieux gave it back its monastic vocation. The abbey can be visited freely or with a guide.

L'abbaye est collée au couvent. Possibilité d'assister aux offices religieux et de se promener dans le premier jardin. Le cadre est joli et calme.
