TAILLAN CASTLE
One of the first châteaux on the Médoc wine route, its wines are aged in French oak barrels for nearly 18 months
One of the first castles on the Médoc wine route is the Taillan. A family property since its acquisition in 1896 by Henri Cruse, it is distinguished by its white 18th century facades, its view over the vineyard and its very special old wine storehouse. Rebuilt in the 15th century, it is listed as a historical monument because of its basement and impressive double vaults. The entire estate extends over 150 hectares, 30 of which are dedicated to the vineyard. The château's wines are entirely aged in French oak barrels for nearly 18 months, which allows them to acquire all the roundness of Merlot and the finesse of Cabernet Franc, with hints of woody-vanilla. La Dame Blanche, the château's dry white wine, takes its name from a regional legend that tells of a Moorish woman married to a young Médoc soldier who had returned from the Crusades.
