Address in Paris elaborating tapas of all kinds, meats and a menu of Iberian sandwiches.
Those who had known it in the 7th arrondissement will be happy to know that it is now installed in the heart of Paris, close to Champs-Elysées in a larger El Sol (two floors), brighter but still caliente. Jose Maria Gomez Vega, the eccentric owner, knows how to put the sun in the hearts and stomachs with his humour and heartfelt words, always charged with a so seductive lilting accent. You enjoy here all the flavours of the Iberian peninsula at lunchtime and dinnertime, in contrast of whole hams hanged above the bar. Wines of Rioja and Rueda fill the glasses for the discovery of the terroir that is too often unknown, and in the dish, selected excellent cold meats (Bellota: ham, paleta, chorizo, lomo), that you peck joyfully and with relish. Tapas of all kinds are also waiting for lovers who just wantsnack at El SOL (squid in ink, boquerones, escalivada and anchovy of Cantabria, beans and petals of Iberian ham, Bellota morcilla, heart of artichoke). Among the star dishes of El Sol, Iberian pork cheek with intense cake, ultra melting bull tail, Iberian pork chops to eat with the hands, black pudding and pressed potatoes in regressive shepherd's pie way cottage pie) share the menu. If you are still a little hungry, let yourself be tempted by the dish of manchego or the diabolic Torta d'Extramadura (a kind of Mont d'Or with ewe's milk eaten with small spoon...) at the end of the meal. Also on the menu: sandwiches of Iberian paleta and take-away manchego.
