PORT OF LORMONT
Lormont is a popular port for travelers between Bordeaux and the east of the département, allowing small boats to dock.
Before the construction of the Pont de Pierre, the port of Lormont was for a long time the privileged passage for travellers between Bordeaux and the east of the department. After the "peyrat" built on piles which allowed the docking of small boats, the arrival of the steamers (Compagnie des Gondoles) led to the construction of modern pontoons integrating the city into the regular lines from the Garonne to the ocean. Today, the riverbanks perpetuate the spirit of the guinguettes of the 1900s thanks to the river shuttle service combining work and tourism.
