Under the old regime and still in the 19th century, the parish of Lussac produced large quantities of cereals. In 1827, the municipality had 1,340 hectares of arable land and the wheat harvest amounted to 6,575 hectolitres. The wheat was processed into flour in the parish itself. There were also 6 water mills and 3 windmills. A water mill: the Moulin de Gaillard was given in 1207 to the Abbey of Faize by a certain Guilbert de Montaigne. In 1504, it was fitted out for the manufacture of sheets but in 1520, it was restored to its function as a wheat mill. Then in 1726, it was given to a miller who undertook to bleach the laundry of the religious of the Abbey. In the 19th century, most of the water mills in Lussacais were converted into sawmills. Windmills appeared only relatively late, those of Lussac were not anterior to the 18th century. The Moulin de Barbe Blanche was built in 1711. Lussac has a larger number of windmills than the other surrounding municipalities. Built on a clod of earth and stone to consolidate them, they resisted the influence of the wind. One of them is partly preserved, without its wings, and without its roof.... Hikers will particularly appreciate the many hiking trails set up by the municipality.
