The church Notre-Dame de Macau is characteristic of the Gironde Romanesque style. It was built in the 12th century by the architect abbot Foulques, then rebuilt in the 19th century. Its donjon bell tower is classified as a Historical Monument. It represented the apse of the old church. In the 12th century, it was a simple Latin cross, sacristy on the right and bell tower on the left arm of the cross. A local legend tells that an underground tunnel would connect this church to the Gironville castle. Remains of the ruined wall were found in the surrounding vineyards.
