THE CAVE OF ARTIGUES
Grotto overhung by a statue of the Virgin, replica of the famous miraculous grotto of Lourdes
The cave of Artigues is overhung by a statue of the Virgin, replica of the famous miraculous cave of Lourdes... This Medoc clone was built in 1897 by Anne-Françoise Averous, owner of a vineyard in Pauillac. Legend has it that each year the Averous girls exchanged a barrel of their wine for a barrel of holy water from Lourdes in order to water the vines. To be discovered during two beautiful walks of 6 and 10 km, before having a picnic in the shade of the big trees and hydrating at the fountain: the water is perhaps miraculous!
