Some of the oldest decorated caves in the world, with cave paintings from the early Upper Paleolithic
North of Bordeaux, not far from the Dordogne, the cave of Pair-non-Pair is one of the oldest decorated caves in the world. This cave contains cave paintings dating from the beginning of the Upper Paleolithic, that is to say 30,000 years before our era; paintings representing horses, mammoths, ibexes, deer, etc.... Tens of thousands of tools and bones were discovered there at the end of the 19th century by François Daleau, all of which are valuable sources of information concerning the evolution of the human race.
