This recently built late nineteenth century building came to replace a Romanesque building dating from the twelfth century which was demolished and whose stones were partly used for reconstruction we see today, under the direction of the architect Edouard Bonnore. Its construction began in 1896 and was inaugurated in April 1901. Its silhouette dominates the surrounding vineyards where the noble Medoc grapes mature.
