STAR PARK
This park, set in the wooded grounds of the Observatory, lets you discover the Universe and Space
For almost 30 years now, the 700m2 of black-lit exhibition space at the Parc aux Étoiles, set in the Observatory's wooded grounds, has welcomed almost 20,000 visitors every year to discover the Universe and Space. The infinitely large is faithfully reproduced here: the celestial vault is represented in 3 dimensions, and thousands of colorful stars shine brightly before the amazed gaze. A wide range of activities are on offer, subject to prior booking: tours of the Observatory, lectures and debates, exhibitions, sky observation through the largest telescope in France, some thirty black-light display cases, and exceptional dioramas recounting the history of the Cosmos and the conquest of space. School vacations are also ideal for children's workshops. The park prides itself on its three core values: education, research and ongoing innovation.
A few years ago, the Parc aux étoiles was enriched by two new outdoor spaces: the Chemin des expositions, an itinerary marked out by panels designed to host thematic exhibitions; and the Jardin de la biodiversité, which invites visitors to explore the flora and fauna that inhabit the park. As soon as the warm weather arrives, don't forget to combine a visit to the Park with a light lunch in the shaded picnic area reserved for this purpose. The site is located on the hill of Hautil, the second highest point in the Ile-de-France region: panoramic views guaranteed!
