ÉGLISE SAINT-SATURNIN
A Romanesque church was built in 1162 and dedicated to Saint-Saturnin, of which only one jewel remains: the famous portal, classified in 1906, in Toulouse style without a tympanum, but with multiple vaults, protrusions and columns housed in the protrusions. One of the most beautiful in the Lauragais, serving as the entrance to another larger church, built in the first half of the 14th century. Evocations from the New Testament are carved in it: the Annunciation, the lives of saints, such as St. Peter, and the martyrdom of St. Aturnin. The capitals share the same symbolism, with fish sirens or two birds drinking from the same vase. Dragons appear on the last archive of the bay. The most surprising thing is the presence of the Virgin and the angel Gabriel in the spandrels. Higher up, the facade is pierced by a huge oculus and topped by a bell tower-wall with five curved bell windows. This heritage has been completely restored. You can also admire the iron cross, the communion gate, the tomb of the bishop of Cojordan (classified), the pregnant Virgin and the group of the Holy Sepulchre... This building contained eight vaulted side chapels in the nave and two in the choir. It was towards the end of the 15th century that an 11th chapel dedicated to the Holy Sepulchre was built.
