EBUROMAGUS - ARCHAEOLOGICAL HOUSE
Maison de l'archéologie (Archaeology House) to discover the history of EBUROMAGUS, Bram's ancestor.
Come and discover the history of Eburomagus, Bram's ancestor, at the Maison de l'Archéologie in the centre of the village. Push open the museum doors and you won't be disappointed! Young and old alike will find plenty to learn. A wide variety of objects will take you through the ages. To sum up, in ancient times, Eburomagus, now Bram, was the most important settlement on the Aquitaine road between Toulouse and Carcassonne. With more than 800 archaeological finds on display over 150m2, a quarter of which have been restored, the permanent exhibition traces the history of Bram and the western Aude region from prehistory to the end of the Middle Ages, in 6 themes. Daily lifestyles, trade and burial rites are all on display, along with videos. The section on Antiquity is particularly fascinating. Temporary exhibitions are held regularly, and the research laboratory can be visited on Heritage Days. The Laboratoire d'archéologie du Lauragais association supports the museum's research and disseminates its findings to the general public. It organises an annual series of conferences and site visits, helps run the museum's in-house library, organises open days and tours, and sets up exhibitions. The Musée de Bram is a certified Musée de France.
