CABRESPINE VILLAGE
A small village of Cabrespine located in the valley of the Clamoux, between plain and mountain, belonging to the abbey of Lagrasse.
The small village of Cabrespine lies at the borders of the Minervois and Cabardès, nestled in the valley of Clamoux, between plain and mountain. It belonged to the abbey of Lagrasse from the time of Charlemagne until the Revolution. The castle, built in the 13th century, was later a royal garrison, but today only a few ruins remain under study. The parish church, built in the 14th century, is well preserved. Beautiful Gothic style is found inside, along with a stone museum and a table of Gamelin. It is also set to host exhibitions as of 2017. The establishment of a medieval garden is also planned for this year, in the green area bordering it. Visitors can discover ancient vegetables and medicinal plants used in the Middle Ages. Cabrespine enjoys an exceptional dynamic, thanks to the municipality that restores, develops, and enhances the village, its heritage, and its history. Water is ubiquitous in Cabrespine: ancient washhouses, watering spots, and fountains recall the essential role of water that would spread throughout the giant gulf of the village (see the "Enlarge" section), known across borders. The narrow and picturesque streets are clean and flowery. These highlights add to the charm of this typical village of the Black Mountain. Looking at the environment, the municipality plans for 2017 the installation of two electric terminals that will be located in the parking lot of the abyss. Cabrespine has been awarded the "Healthy Land-free" label, which rewards and attests to the efforts made to protect the cultures and vegetation of the village.
