Founded in 1846 by François Arago, L'Indépendant is one of the oldest French daily newspapers. Circulated mainly in the Pyrénées-Orientales and Aude departments (since 1932), it relays all the news from the major sectors of the region: Narbonne, Lézignan, Limoux, Castelnaudary, Port-La Nouvelle, Carcassonne... In its pages and on the website, it broadcasts local political and sports news, culture, etc. Since 2015, it has been owned by the La Dépêche group, just like Midi Libre.
