Lieux historiques et très beaux, respect du patrimoine. Seul gros bémol , NON ACCESSIBLE EN FAUTEUIL ROULANT ce qui est bien dommage car on paye une entrée pour finalement rester dans la cours… même l’accès aux toilettes est impossible il y a 2 marches..

Aunque es muy turístico recomiendo 100% visitar la ciudad medieval. Esta todo super cuidado, calles, murallas, las plazas, la catedral.. y las vistas son muy bonitas.

Ciudad amurallada patrimonio de La Unesco, la visité a las 8 de la mañana cuando todos sus negocios estaban cerrados y aún así transmite magia.
Si estás por la zona, la visita es obligada.

És una antiga ciutat amurallada de l'edat mitja, amb un encant especial. Totalment turística. Botigues de records, restaurant, museus del terror i de la inquisició, hotel pensió... però, mante l'encant de passejar pel passat visitar espais antics, l'esglesia, una joia de vitalls i imatges, encara que les tombes son tant antigues i desgastades que no pots adivinar qui està enterrat allà.

Wow what a neat and interesting place! It was an easy walk from the train station to the medieval city. There is a bit of an uphill walk at the very end. Lots of tourist at the entrance of the city but they soon dispersed. We had pre purchased our tickets to the castle and that made the wait much shorter. People who needed to buy tickets had to wait in a long line. Accidentally we walked towards the exit once we entered. It was a long walk along the fortress wall in one direction. Then before we knew it we had exited! So we made our way back to the entrance and were let back in to see the first part!

Washrooms are not the greatest in Carcassonne. There a free public W/C in the historic city. Some have toilets, some have a hole in the ground. Some have toilet paper, some don’t. I think they all stink. Totally worth getting lunch and using the restaurants toilet!
Once our day was over, we walked back to the train station and caught an earlier train back to Toulouse. Standing room only.

Carcassonne was a wonderful day with lots of old history. Must visit if in the area.

The medieval fortified town looks spectacular. Sadly, the fortress has been turned totally over to tourist trade.

The main streets & squares are all lined with souvenir shops & the like.

Pour les amoureux du monde médiéval, et ceux qui ont envie d'être surpris par le musée de l'inquisition et la maison de l'horreur (ça c plutôt pour les grands, âmes sensibles s'abstenir !!!)

Agréablement surpris

La cité de Carcassonne est tellement connue et visitée qu'on aurait pu craindre un "Disneyland médiéval" mais nous avons trouvé que l'ensemble était assez bien équilibré avec pas mal de restaurants et boutiques de qualité qui contrebalancent avec les inévitables boutiques de souvenirs "made in china". Evidemment, nous étions hors saison donc sans doute qu'il y avait moins de monde dans les rues. Ne pas hésiter à faire la visite du château.
