COLLÉGIALE SAINT-MICHEL
Southern Gothic collegiate church built between 1240 and 1270 in Castelnaudary.
Listed as a historic monument since 1910, the collegiate church of Saint-Michel was built between 1240 and 1270 in the Southern Gothic style. Its nave, bordered by 9 chapels, and 18th-century high altar combine white and red marble from Caunes-Minervois. The bell tower, with its 35-bell carillon (one of the largest in France), stands 50 m high. The building's grandiose nave and the sound of its great organs, listed in 1969 and maintained by the association Les Amis des Orgues et du Carillon de Castelnaudary, command admiration.
