In September, the Association des Marbrières de Caunes invites you to the Fête du Marbre de Caunes, a living sculpture symposium that brings the village to life for 10 days. On the program: demonstrations by sculptors in front of the Écomusée, exhibition of works in the museum, tours of the historic quarries and the village, lectures. At the end of the symposium, the Village Arts et Saveurs hosts the "Marché des Producteurs de Pays" with on-site catering, as well as an exhibition-sale of works by regional artists (marble, wood, iron, lapidary...) and a conference with musical entertainment and local crafts.
You can visit: the quarries via "Safaris Marbre" (guided tour on a 2 km loop) reservation required at the Tourist Office on 04 68 76 34 74, visits on Wednesdays and Sundays all year round.
Or the Ecomusée Marbre et Terroir, which hosts an exhibition dedicated to the region's marble-making heritage in a former industrial building on avenue du Stade.
