An establishment located in Gruissan, offering a one-and-a-half-hour guided tour of the salt industry.
Between the Etang de l'Ayrolle, Ile Saint-Martin and the Grau de la Vieille-Nouvelle, the Gruissan salt marsh stretches over almost 350 hectares. Its unspoilt environment is ideal for visiting, whether to admire the exceptional fauna, enjoy the exceptional views that change with the hours, or understand the know-how that has gone into exploiting this white gold. To help you discover these elements, a 1h30 guided tour is organised on a regular basis. You can choose to visit on foot or by electric scooter. This walk through the heart of the salt marshes reveals all the secrets of the master salt-makers: water movement, concentration, crystallization... In addition, a highly instructive ecomuseum is available free of charge. It invites you to step back in time. Its collections of tools and multimedia content allow you to relive the salt harvest from 1900 to the present day.
Store. Just a stone's throw away, the spacious boutique offers salt in all its forms: fleur de sel, flavoured salt, raw salt... as well as a wide range of local products. A visit to the salt works can begin or end with a delicious moment at La Cambuse du Saunier, the on-site restaurant. With its panoramic terrace offering a superb view of the salt marshes, its large tables, its seafood menu and its attractive wine list, it's an incomparable rendezvous. Last but not least, if you're in the area in early July, don't miss the Fête du Sel, an event not to be missed!
