CHÂTEAU PUYFROMAGE
On the2nd highest point of the Gironde, Château Puyfromage was built at the end of the 16th century, next to an 11th-century keep and a royal dovecote (still visible). The name comes from an episode in the Hundred Years' War. English troops waited for smoke signals from the keep at the edge of the plateau... From edge to cheese! The 54 hectares of vines produce award-winning quality wines in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. ISO14001 and HVE3 certified, the château is in the process of converting to organic farming.
