CHÂTEAU ABBAYE DES MONGES
Wine estate full of history where you can enjoy the peace and quiet between vineyards and garrigue.
In 1204, the Bernardines founded the monastery of Olieux on the Western slope of Clape. It became the Abbaye des Monges, one of the rare Cistercian abbeys of Languedoc for women. In the 16th century, the nuns left the place, but it is still possible to observe the Notre-Dame de Grâce (or Notre-Dame des Olieux) chapel. Twenty years ago, Marie-Claude and Paul Chefdebien decided to revive this historically rich place. The wine estate was put back into service with more than 35 hectares of vineyards. In an independent house, three perfectly equipped cottages welcome you from Saturday to Saturday for a few days in the quiet, amidst vineyards and scrubland. A peaceful address aimed at meditation, enter the remains of the former 11th-century abbey restored in 2013, and you will understand...
