Located north of Sougraigne, in the heart of the Hautes Corbières, the archaeological site of the Salines glassworks, built around 1650, was in operation until 1765. Here, the Sals, a salty spring, was once frequented by glassmakers, jet miners, charcoal burners, lumberjacks, shepherds, peddlers, and, of course, smugglers and gabelous on their heels. Discover this historic site, the glass workshop, and learn what life was like in the days of the Gabelle.
