LA CHAPELLE SAINT-MAMÈS
This chapel, located on the RD111, is the subject of archaeological excavations that have enabled us to establish the main stages in its history.
The St-Mamès chapel, located on the RD111 between Villeneuve and Sallèles, was saved from destruction. Extensively altered over the ages, it has been the subject of archaeological excavations which have enabled us to establish the main stages in its history. The cult of Saint Mammès, a shepherd from Cappadocia, dates back to the 9th century. The current choir, located opposite all other churches, and the entrance facade were added around 1860. The central nave with its pointed vault has a more mysterious origin. St. Mammès is commemorated every year on August 17.
