THE KNEELING CHAPEL
Church built in basalt stone, near the parish of Notre-Dame-du-Grau, with a lantern of the dead on its roof
This sober church, built of basalt stone, is located near the parish of Notre-Dame-du-Grau. The present monument was established in 1653. It is built around a rock on which the Virgin appeared in the5th century. According to the legend, she would have pushed back the floodwaters by praying on her knees, leaving the imprint of her knee in the nave. On its roof, one can see a "lantern of the dead", a rare heritage detail in the region.
