ST. SEVER'S CHURCH
Church with a single nave that houses a Christ on the Cross, a remarkable 15th century polychrome wood sculpture
Near the Marine district, which earned it the nickname "fishermen's church", this late 15th century Gothic style church is dedicated to Sever, a Syrian prince who came to Agde in the5th century. Remodeled in the 1950s, it has a single nave that houses a Christ on the cross, a remarkable 15th century polychrome wood sculpture. According to legend, it is the work of a disciple of Michelangelo and go figure, perhaps the master himself! At the back of the church stands a romantic 19th century organ.
