ST. RAPHAEL'S CHAPEL
Chapel with a single nave ending in a quadrangular apse, known for the small cave with miraculous water
Nestled on the banks of the Orb, in the heart of the Bédarieux vineyard, the Saint-Raphaël chapel is classified as a Historic Monument. Accessible from the Orb loop trail, this pre-Romanesque site, composed of a single nave ending in a quadrangular apse, dates from the 12th century. The chapel watches over a small cave, at the bottom of which the ancients used to collect water. Tradition has it that every year, on Saint John's Day, pilgrims would come to dip their handkerchiefs in it to apply this miraculous water to their sick eyes.
