ST. JAMES CHURCH
This church is a beautiful example of the second Mediterranean Romanesque art.
Named Saint-Jacques because of its location on the road to Compostela, this former abbey church of the Augustinian convent is a fine example of the second Mediterranean Romanesque art. Remodeled in the 12th century, damaged in the 18th century, the building has recently recovered its Romanesque identity. On the outside, the apse is remarkable for its balance and the refinement of its capitals, inspired by Visigothic art, similar to basketwork. From its garden, one can enjoy a sublime panorama of the Orb plain and the St Nazaire cathedral.
