This cemetery is a unique and fascinating place where the great families of Béziers and local artists are laid to rest.
The Cimetière Vieux is a bit like the Père Lachaise of Béziers. Created in 1812, it is as much a Mediterranean garden with its pine and cypress trees as it is an open-air museum. It's here that the great families of Béziers and local artists such as sculptors Jean Antoine Injalbert and Jean Magrou are laid to rest for eternity. The Cimetière Vieux is home to numerous works of art, including an Egyptian temple, Art Deco statues and bronze recumbent figures. A must-see for the superstitious, the statue of Notre-Dame-du-Moucadou is said to grant wishes.
