LE PONT VIEUX
The bridge has been classified as a historical monument since 1963. It was the only possible way to cross the Orb river and go through the city.
Classified as a historical monument since 1963, this "old man" has resisted the invasive floods of the Orb since 1134. Until the middle of the 19th century, the Pont Vieux was the only possible way to cross the Orb and go through the city, when traveling between Marseille and Toulouse. "Sumptuous and great stone edifice" as Charles VII and Louis XI described it, the bridge stretches its 17 arches of unequal size over 246 meters. Its western bank hosts an amphitheater of greenery, opening a beautiful panorama on the massive silhouette of the cathedral.
