BRIDGE-CANAL OF THE ORB
This canal-bridge, measuring 12 m high, is one of the largest canal-bridges in France, linking the Canal du Midi and the Orb.
The Orb bridge-canal, also known as the Béziers bridge-canal, is a beautiful structure allowing the passage of the Canal du Midi over the Orb. Its construction was launched in 1854, under the direction of Urbain Maguès, responsible for the works of the Canal du Midi. Its commissioning in 1858 made it possible to abandon the crossing in the river bed that the boats had to make. It is one of the largest canal bridges in France. It is 240 m long, 28 m wide and 12 m high. It has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1996.
