LE CASTELLAS
A Romanesque monument, located in Castelnau-de-Guers, with vaulted rooms and an impressive ceremonial hall
Built on a rocky peak in the 13th century, the monument was once accessible via a drawbridge, two towers of which can still be seen. At the time, the main building was crowned with loopholes, which are now blocked off. Behind its austere walls, the residence has vaulted rooms and an impressive ceremonial room on the first floor. Its entrance is next to the Saint-Jean chapel, a Romanesque style monument. Only the renovated chapel can be accessed. The courtyard of the castle offers a magnificent view of the Hérault valley.
